Defending The Defenders

Here we stand today, after 70 years of indian independence. Students dressed in indian traditional clothes, gathering and saluting the indian flag, singing the song of our glory, ‘jana gana mana’.

But 70 years back, this was not the case. The country was divided. India was confused. There were screams of hatred and hunger. The land was soaked in blood. In exchange of that blood, we claimed freedom, freedom from the british empire. Freedom was not free.

Today, we walk on the roads freely, without having any fear of curfews or prosecutions, we sleep happily at night without any fear of being killed by a missile bomb. All of this, because out there on the snow clad mountains is a lonely soldier who is watching out for us. All of this, because the navy has made the ocean safe for us.

The 76 km of Siachen Glacier, 5400 ft above sea level, is a terrain that the human body cannot acclimatize to. Skin contact with any metal for mere 15 seconds can result into frostbite. Snow storms can last upto 3 weeks straight and the temperatures go down upto minus 60 degrees. Medical assistance is almost never close at hand.

Jammu and Kashmir demands a round-the-clock support from the army. When under fire and grenade attacks, gunshot and shrapnel wounds are commonplace here. Their priority is the safety of the civilian population. With battles raging on for days, appropriate medical attention remains inaccessible and leads to loss of limbs or life unnecessarily.

We still exchange the blood, sweat and invincible conviction of our soldiers with freedom. After 70 years of independence, freedom is yet not free.

Medical technology has come a long way and while it has made things on the frontlines easier, it is yet to be of portable size to make a difference directly on the field. A product like Axiostat addresses this last line of concern. Easily carried, lightweight and simple enough for a layperson to use, this product can stop bleeding within a few minutes, which often means the difference between life and death. When medical help is far away, when caught in crossfire, when enabling a rescue mission, being able to make quick decisions and provide immediate, life-saving care can make a world of difference.

This independence day, we reiterate the fact that freedom does not come for free. It is an ongoing battle, everyday, against various forces that our soldiers fight and we thank them for that. While some, like our soldiers, are at the forefront, other, like us, work in the background and tune that work to the support of the greater cause.

Today, Axiostat is used by various battalions across the country & various armed forces across the world. We are proud to be able to defend our defenders.

This independence day, we pledge to continue working to support our armed forces and enable them to give us what to many across the world is a distant dream – a good night’s sleep in a safe home.
